Dinning Guide

2014-Graphic-1Hobofest is an all-day free music festival “at the tracks,” celebrating American roots culture and the independent hobo spirit.
The sixth annual Hobofest takes place on Sunday of Labor Day weekend, August 31st from noon until 11pm, on the grounds of the Historic Union Depot in Saranac Lake, NY.
The day showcases many of the area’s finest musicians paired with imported traveling veterans. Kicking off the day will be a re-creation of John Coltrane’s landmark recording, “A Love Supreme,” with regional performers from Saranac Lake to Pottsdam. Woody Pines, the Resonant Rogues, and the Honey Dewdrops travel from points south, for their Hobofest debuts, with Lew Dite crossing the Canadian border for his. Back Porch Society and Jeremiah Weed & the Wildeflowers both make their Saranac Lake debuts, representing downhill Adirondack communities. Local Hobofest alumni Crackin’ Foxy returns with a new line-up.
County Line will play on the 1pm round trip aboard the Adirondack Scenic Railroad. The Depot Jam continues this year for anyone who wants to participate with an acoustic instrument. Children’s activities are on-site, Eat n’ Meet grill & larder, and Mace Chasm’s food truck will serve their menus, as well as Blueline Brewery for the afternoon.
